History:
Suncatcher Eyes were born in 2006. After making a
bunch of
Ogilvy dolls, I was tired of the same old black craft eyes, and the
store-bought brown ones did nothing for me. I found the
colored
eyes online, but they seemed so dull and lifeless. I wanted
more
of a color selection and a better quality. So I went online
and
found some clear craft eyes and decided to paint my own.
How they are
made:
Suncatcher Eyes are made with safety in mind. I use only
acrylic
paint, which is nontoxic and safe for children. Please note
that
Suncatcher Eyes are not safe for items meant for babies, children, and
animals
who put things in their mouths. My little Jack
Russell/poodle can chew right through
the stems!
Production
and shipping time:
There have been a few customers with old shipping addresses registered
at PayPal. In order to make sure everyone gets their package
sent
to the proper address, I will wait a day or two after sending your
confirmation email to be sure the address is correct.
Suncatcher
Eyes require approximately 2 days to paint, dry, and cure before
packaging to ensure a quality product. Please allow a total
of
5-7 days for your order to be shipped.
Rush orders:
I am happy to put a rush on your order, just let me know.
However, please understand that production time may still
take a
few days in order to ensure you get a quality product.
Washing tips:
All
Suncatcher Eyes have been machine washer/dryer tested. I
would
recommend cold/cool/warm water and fluff/cool or air drying.
Please put the item with Suncatcher Eyes in a pillowcase or
lingerie bag to prevent scratching from the sides of the washer.
Baking:
Unfortunately Suncatcher Eyes cannot be put in the oven and baked.
They are made of a durable plastic, but the heat will cause
the
eye to cloud over.
CPSIA:
The plastic craft eyes that I use to make Suncatcher Eyes have passed
CPSIA testing. All paints used in the
production of Suncatcher Eyes are certified non-toxic by the Art
& Creative Materials
Institute (ACMI). More details are available upon request.

DIY tips:
1. Nail polish should not be used to
paint
acrylic/plastic craft eyes. Get a good water-based acrylic
paint
from your craft store.like FolkArt or Apple Barrel.
2. If you find that your acrylic paint is a bit thick, try
adding
a bit of water to it. You don't want it runny, but you don't want it
too thick either. I like mine about the consistency of
ketchup.
3. Allow your painted eyes to dry at least 24-48 hours before
using
them, and check to make sure they are not tacky. In humid or
rainy weather, allow extray drying time. Questions?
