Baccarat is a game played with cards in casinos. It is a comparison game played between two the banker and the player. Each round of baccarat can have three players, a banker or a tie, with the winner having the highest score. Baccarat games are easy to learn, exciting and full of fun. Players of the game can bet either on the banker or the player’s hand. To make it easier for you, here is a guide on how to play baccarat in 6 steps
- You can place bets on two hands
Bets must be placed before the game begins. You can bet on the player or banker’s hand.
- Understand how cards are dealt
Both banker and the player have two cards. A casino operator picks one card from the shoe and keeps it face up inside the player’s box. Then the banker’s first hand is placed in the banker’s box. Similarly, the second player and banker cards are dealt. The first round has two cards for each banker and player.
- Announce the total points of the first set of cards
Face and tens cards are zero points. The remaining cards are worth their face value, and the ace is one point. If a total is greater than 10, the higher (second) digit is the hand’s value. For instance, a 6 and 8 would total 14. So, the value is 4. To win a bet, you must be closer to 9.
- Natural win
If the banker or player has a total point of 8 or 9 in the first two cards dealt, it’s called a natural win, and the baccarat games end. Bets already placed are cashed.
- Determine if the player gets a third card
If the player’s hand gets over first. An 8 or 9 total will mean no additional cards for the player. On other totals between 0-5, the player picks a third card unless the banker has a pointer of 8 or 9, in which scenario, the banker wins without further draw.
- Understand the rules determining the third card for the banker
If the player draws no new cards, the banker draws a total of 0-5 and stays pat with a 6 or 7. Other hands rely on the third card the player picks.
- After all cards are dealt count the winning hand
The winning hand is the one that totals 9. In the case of a tie, none of the hands wins or loses. Sometimes a commission has to be paid when winning from the banker’s hand.
